Paintings and Collages

It’s been so much fun to paint and create collage more in recent years. These first rows of paintings were done on large paper with tempera paint. It feels so good to create big colorful pieces.

These can be printed onto framed canvas and mailed to you, ready for hanging. Please ask about sizes so we can find the perfect fit!

These are my first three large tempera paintings, and the crops from these paintings are just below.

The full size is 2’x3′, while the crops are 12″ square. Other sizes are available by request.

Pink Path

This piece was painted with Gouache on watercolor board. Part of it was painted upside down, which allows an artist to really “see” the shapes and placement of things as they are, bypassing the logical mind with its ideas of what things “should” look like.

This lovely path is in the foothills of Southern California.

Barbara's Art Story

Process Painting is one of the things I’ve discovered over the years, which is painting purely from intuition. The three full-sized paintings at the top of the page were done in this way, with tempera paint on large paper. It was fascinating to see what emerged!

I’ve also loved collage for many years, and continue to create collages in my Cosmic Smashbooks, as well as in other ways.

Recently I’ve enjoyed painting and drawing faces too.

I hope you are being creative in your own way with your favorite materials! Enjoy whatever emerges. Often there is an “awkward phase,” but when you just keep going, with layers, or even using the scraps you set aside, as in collage, the most interesting things can happen!
